According to DHS secretary-designee Karen Timberlake, the new guidelines align with the science, and it s safe to go about day-to-day activities similar to pre-pandemic times. The science is clear: if you are fully vaccinated, you are protected, and you can start doing the things that you stopped doing because of the pandemic. For vaccinated people, this means returning to the Wisconsin way of life we all enjoy, Timberlake said in the release.

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) on Saturday, May 15 reported an additional 550 COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 605,926.
The DHS also reported four additional death Saturday, making 6,958 total deaths to date.
Among those who have tested positive for COVID-19, 30,189 people have been hospitalized (5%) and 591,262 people have recovered (97.6%). There are 7,440 active cases in the state (1.2%).
More than 3.5 million people in Wisconsin have been tested for COVID-19.
More than 2.9 million people have tested negative for COVID-19.
Unvaccinated kids need masks, Wisconsin doctors say
Wisconsin residents who are fully vaccinated can ditch the face masks and return to activities they did before the COVID-19 pandemic, the stateâs health department said Friday.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said it supported the new guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday that fully vaccinated people can largely resume pre-pandemic lives, including not wearing face masks indoors in most instances.
DHS Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake said the new guidance for people who are fully vaccinated, considered to occur two weeks after completing a vaccination series, is âan exciting step forward.â
âThe science is clear: if you are fully vaccinated, you are protected, and you can start doing the things that you stopped doing because of the pandemic,â Timberlake said in a statement.
