Wisconsin COVID cases up 205, no new deaths: State officials

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) on Monday, May 10 reported an additional 205 COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 603,303.
The DHS also reported no additional deaths Monday, making 6,904 total deaths to date.
Among those who have tested positive for COVID-19, 29,831 people have been hospitalized (4.9%) and 588,302 people have recovered (97.6%). There are 7,831 active cases in the state (1.3%).
More than 3.4 million people in Wisconsin have been tested for COVID-19.
More than 2.8 million people have tested negative for COVID-19.
The new strain of the coronavirus causes the disease COVID-19. Symptoms include cough, fever and shortness of breath. A full list of symptoms is available on the Centers for Disease Control website.
In severe cases, pneumonia can develop. Those most at risk include the elderly, people with heart or lung disease as well as anyone at greater risk of infection.
For most, the virus is mild, presenting similarly to a common cold or the flu.
Anyone who thinks they may have the disease should call ahead to a hospital or clinic before going in for a diagnosis. Doing so gives the staff time to take the proper precautions so the virus does not spread.

An additional 44 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday, May 7, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Monday, May 10.
They were reported as follows: 13 in Douglas County; eight each in Sawyer and Washburn counties; seven in Burnett County; four in Bayfield County; two in Rusk County; one each in Ashland and Taylor counties. No new cases were reported in Iron and Price counties.

17 of the 165 test results received since Friday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health have returned positive results for COVID-19, raising the running total in Sheboygan County to 13,739 cases. With 28 recoveries noted in the same time, the active case count here fell by 11 to 114, the lowest since 112 were noted on September 16th, 2020. 1 fewer person was hospitalized than on Friday with a county patient population of 3.
Since Friday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services added another 1,038 confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection, 205 of those on Monday, raising the running total to 603,303. And although no deaths were reported on Monday, 20 were added over the weekend, raising the toll to 6,904. 23 more persons were hospitalized, and a net gain of 6 put the state’s COVID patient population at 322. 96 of those were in ICU beds, and 365 ventilators were in use.

MADISON, Wis. - The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin rose by 308 Sunday, May 9 for a total of 603,098, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported.
There have been 6,904 deaths in the state.
Of the positive cases, 29,808 have required hospitalization (4.9%), while 587,795 have recovered (97.5), making for 8,133 active cases (1.3%).
More than 2.8 million have tested negative.
More than 3.4 million have been tested.
