(Natural News) The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down a mask mandate put in place by Gov. Tony Evers. In a 4-3 ruling, the high court ruled on March 31 that Evers overreached his authority with that mandate. According to the magistrates’ decision, the governor needed approval from state lawmakers – who are opposed to statewide mask mandates – before any emergency orders can be implemented.
Chief Justice Patience Roggensack and Justices Brian Hagedorn, Annete Ziegler and Rebecca Bradley ruled against overturning the emergency mask order. Meanwhile, Justices Ann Walsh Bradley, Rebecca Dallet and Jill Karofsky dissented. The majority decision penned by Hagedorn stated: “After receiving briefing on these requests, we conclude that the state of emergency proclaimed [by Evers] … exceeded the governor’s powers and is therefore unlawful.”

Another 640 Northeastern Minnesota residents have received their first dose of the vaccine. Nearly 56% of people age 16 and older in the seven-county region have at least one dose. For the entire region s population, including those under age 16, that number is nearly 51%.
Wisconsin s Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties collectively logged 960 new vaccinations on Saturday. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services did not report new data on Friday.
Now 44% of the region s entire population has at least one dose.

DHS: 518 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin rose by 518 Sunday, April 18, officials with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported, for a total of 590,458.
There have been 6,709 deaths in the state.
Of the positive cases, 28,557 have required hospitalization (4.8%), while 573,838 have recovered (97.3%), making for 9,147 active cases (1.6%).
More than 2.8 million have tested negative.
More than 3.3 million have been tested.
