TWO COVID DEATHS, COUNTY ACTIVITY LEVEL “HIGH”, ACTIVE CASES STILL ON THE RISE By Kevin Zimmermann Jul 28, 2021 | 7:22 PM The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County rose again on Wednesday, with 64 now being monitored by the Division of Public Health.  14 new positive tests were received while 7 persons recovered.  13,981 have now experienced a bout with the coronavirus, and with two new deaths reported on Wednesday, 154 have lost that battle.  There are no current hospitalizations to report in Sheboygan County. Sheboygan County is now experiencing a “High” activity level, with a burden of 76.8 cases per 100,000 persons, and a trajectory that is upwards at 90% over the past two weeks.  The 7-day average of daily new cases as reported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is at 8.

As of Wednesday, a total of 5,754,654 vaccines have been administered throughout Wisconsin. So far, 51.2 percent of Wisconsinites have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, and 48.9 percent of the state has completed the vaccine series. Vaccination numbers can change on a rolling basis as the state gets more data each day. DHS has a county-level dashboard to assess the COVID-19 activity level in counties and Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition regions that measure what DHS calls the burden in each county.

There have been 316 COVID-19 deaths in Kenosha County. Kenosha County Public Health is reporting 83,095 negative test results (same total as Tuesday). Wisconsin Department of Health Services is reporting a positive rate of 9,599/100,000 people and a 2 percent case fatality rate in Kenosha County as of Wednesday. In Kenosha County, 46.35 percent of the population has had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 43.82 percent are fully vaccinated as of Wednesday, reports Kenosha County Public Health.

Sheboygan schools won t require masks despite CDC guidance change

View Comments SHEBOYGAN - The Sheboygan Area School District won t make any students or staff wear masks when they return this fall. Following the suggestion of district administrators, the school board voted unanimously Tuesday night to make masks recommended, but optional. Earlier Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidance to schools to recommend universal indoor masking. Yet all members of the public who provided input at Tuesday night s meeting supported the mask-optional policy. Before the school board voted, Seth Harvatine, the district superintendent, presented on COVID-19 guidance provided to schools by the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics.
