SHEBOYGAN - The Sheboygan Area School District won't make any students or staff wear masks when they return this fall.
Following the suggestion of district administrators, the school board voted unanimously Tuesday night to make masks recommended, but optional.
Earlier Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidance to schools to recommend universal indoor masking. Yet all members of the public who provided input at Tuesday night's meeting supported the mask-optional policy.
Before the school board voted, Seth Harvatine, the district superintendent, presented on COVID-19 guidance provided to schools by the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics.
