One dead after home explosion in Jefferson County
One person is dead after a home explosion in the community of Rome in Jefferson County Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Paul Milbrath says it took place just before 1:50 p.m. When emergency crews arrived at the home on West Water Street, it was completely leveled.
“The individual that was located at the residence was home by themselves, and that person was the only person located within the residence,” says Milbrath.
Milbrath adds that there were no other injuries due to the explosion. “There is signs of other property damage with other homes, including structural damage in the form of broken windows (and) other damage to some of the structures, to their siding, because of the debris.”
One person is dead in a house fire in Medford early Saturday morning.
At 1:20 a.m., the Taylor County Sheriffâs Office received a call that a house was on fire at the 1100 block of South Eighth Street in Medford.
Officers on scene found an attached garage on fire and the house filled with smoke, according to a release from the Medford Police Department.
After the fire was contained, the Medford Area Fire Department found one person inside the house who had died.
The Wisconsin State Fire Marshalâs Office is assisting the Medford Police Department in the investigation into what caused the fire. No other details are available.
One dead in Taylor County fire
MEDFORD (WQOW) - One person is dead following a house fire in Medford, according to the Medford Police Department.
Officials received the 911 call at 1:20 a.m Saturday. Upon arriving at the scene they found the garage in flames and the house filled with smoke. The Medford Area Fire Department extinguished the flames, and found one deceased person inside the home.
The Wisconsin State Fire Marshal s Office is assisting Medford Police in investigating the cause of the fire.
