May 11, 2021 Kaul, a Democrat, and attorneys general from 17 states and the District of Columbia, submitted comments Monday asking the agency to regulate PFAS as a class, something the chemical industry has staunchly opposed. The comments, submitted in support of the EPA’s plan to require public water systems to test for 29 unregulated PFAS compounds, say the agency should also require monitoring and validate a method for measuring total PFAS, lower minimum reporting levels and advance environmental justice with PFAS monitoring. Kaul Despite studies showing PFAS exposure negatively affects human health, there are no national drinking water standards or requirements that public water systems test for the compounds.

MADISON, WI Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul has joined a bipartisan group of 43 other attorneys general in asking Facebook to put an end to a proposal to create a new version of Instagram for children. Late last month Facebook confirmed they were developing a new version of Instagram, or an Instagram-like photo sharing social media app for children under 13. The proposed app would be ad-free, though, as the Wall Street Journal reports, it would likely help Facebook s ad-targeting programs and could help the social media giant rake in even more money in the long haul.

Press Release AG Kaul Leads 19 AGs in Urging EPA to Require Public Water Systems to Monitor for Additional PFAS May 10, 2021 MADISON, Wis. – Attorney General Josh Kaul is leading a coalition of 19 attorneys general, led by Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, today filed comments to the U.S. Environmental Protect Agency (EPA) supporting the agency’s proposal to include 29 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, more commonly known as PFAS or “forever” chemicals, in the fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5). Through UCMR 5, EPA will require public water systems to monitor for these PFAS, which will provide valuable data about the occurrence of PFAS contamination in public water supplies around the country.
