Arrangements have been made for food and accommodation of staff nurses and doctors at the Tiruchi Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital as per the guidelines issued by the Health Secretary and the Commissioner of Food Safety. Local hotels have been roped in to facilitate these services.
R. Ramesh Babu, Designated Officer, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Tiruchi, said that the Tiruchi District Hotels Association was contacted and arrangements were made to prepare food for healthcare workers so that 330 people were being fed at the K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College, 150 at the Tiruchi Government Hospital. People were being provided with food at hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres in rural parts.

The public in Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Karur and Perambalur districts had cause for joy on Friday as six representatives from the region made it to the State Cabinet.
There were two ministerial berths each for Tiruchi and Pudukottai and one each for Karur and Perambalur districts. Moreover, almost all the six of them were entrusted with prestigious portfolios that, many believe, would reflect in comprehensive development of infrastructure leading to economic progress of the region in the coming years.
Beds, testing increased to tackle rising Covid cases
The increase in cases has been attributed to safety protocol not being followed during election campaigns and at public places.

TIRUCHY: Active Covid cases in the district have increased more than four fold in the past two weeks. As many as 34 new cases and 150 active cases were reported on March 25. However, two weeks later, on Thursday, the numbers stood at 131 new cases and 938 active cases. Less than 50 new cases were registered 10 days back, but now it has increased to more than 1,250 cases.
