(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Elise Stefanik, who House Republican leaders are now promoting to replace Rep. Liz Cheney as chair of the House Republican Conference, boasted on “CBS This Morning” in 2018 that she was among the 10 percent of House members who were most bipartisan in their voting.
Stefanik then stated that women in Congress are more bipartisan then men.
“It’s great to see women running on both sides of the aisle. We’re more bipartisan,” she said.

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois on Monday said that the leadership position of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy should have been challenged in the aftermath of January 6.
The congressman told C-SPAN in an interview that he wanted to call for McCarthy s leadership position to be challenged after the Capitol riot, but his allies in Congress advocated for allowing the party space to heal. Kinzinger didn t want to pursue ousting McCathy alone. It s interesting because I actually thought the person that should have their leadership challenged was Kevin McCarthy after January 6th, because that s why this all happened, he said. And the freedom club and, you know, some of those folks went on the offense against Liz.
Former President Donald Trump on Monday issued a second endorsement of New York Rep. Elise Stefanik to replace Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney as House Republican Conference chair with a vote expected this week.
“The House GOP has a massive opportunity to upgrade this week from warmonger Liz Cheney to gifted communicator Elise Stefanik,” Trump wrote in a nod to Stefanik’s defense of the president throughout his two impeachments. Cheney was one of 10 House GOP lawmakers to support the second.
Trump continued, touting Stefanik’s conservative credentials despite her more moderate lower-chamber voting record.
