Cagayan De Oro will be next destination of Vice President Leni Robredo’s “Vaccine Express,” a drive-through vaccination program in response to the pandemic.

Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said the Office of the Vice President (OVP) is finalizing the rollout of the project and will soon announce the schedule of its launching there.
“Details are being finalized. We’ll announce as soon as there’s a definite schedule,” Gutierrez, a lawyer, said.
Cagayan de Oro Rep. and House Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez appealed to the OVP to expand the drive-through vaccination program to Visayas and Mindanao, which are now experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

House Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez on Wednesday rejected China’s proposition for the Philippines to respect Beijing’s sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea, saying it should pull out all its military and civilian vessels in the area because it is not part of their exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
“They should leave the West Philippine Sea. They are the interloper,” Rodriguez said in a statement.
The Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative also called the statement of the Chinese foreign ministry for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to stop exercises in the WPS and for the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and to respect Chinese sovereignty over the disputed maritime territory as “ridiculous.”

Rodriguez issued the appeal on Thursday, April 22, amid the country’s dwindling vaccine supply and following reports that the US has an adequate supply of coronavirus shots for its people.
White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci was quoted as telling BBC Radio that America might no longer need the millions of doses it has agreed to buy from British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca.
“The US can donate those doses to us, including its excess from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson,” Rodriguez said in a statement, noting that the US has already administered over 200 million doses to its estimated 330-million population.
