Glen VanHerck, head of Northern Command, will testify before several committees this week on needs facing their missions, including a joint appearance before the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday.

Former Congressman Gil Cisneros has been tapped by President Joe Biden to lead the Pentagon’s Personnel and Readiness office, the latest in a series of leadership moves for the Department of Defense. Cisneros, 50, is a Navy veteran who served two years as a Democratic representative from the Los Angeles area before losing his reelection bid last fall.
President Joe Biden intends to nominate Christine Wormuth to be the next Army secretary, making her the first woman to hold that position, the White House announced Monday.

Typically by mid-March, lawmakers in the House and Senate are in full budget hearing mode, with multiple service officials testifying on future needs and program changes for the upcoming fiscal year.
