Kerry Acknowledges CCP Human Rights Abuses Present ‘Problem’ for US Climate Strategy
The Biden administration’s climate envoy, John Kerry, acknowledged Wednesday that reports of forced labor central to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) green energy policies present a “problem” to the national climate strategy.
Kerry made the remarks during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing in response to comments from Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) about a damning report from Bloomberg that revealed some solar products sourced from Xinjiang, including polysilicon, are made using forced labor.
Polysilicon is the key raw material used to produce solar panels that generate electricity from sunlight. Three factories in Xinjiang collectively produce nearly half the world’s polysilicon supply, Bloomberg reported.

Colombians living in South Florida urging our leaders to speak out on human rights violations there as people take to the streets protesting a tax hike proposal caused by the COVID economic crisis. The group wants our politicians to publicly condemn state-sponsored violence in Colombia. Carlos Naranjo says they re sending a letter to Congressman Ted Deutch,a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, urging him to create a resolution denouncing the atrocities. He says at least 31 people have been shot dead including a 17-year-old protesting for better living conditions. He says the government is trying to silence protesters by cutting off their water, electricity and internet services.
