In an effort to keep DeSoto County clean and beautiful, Spring Cleanup Day on April 17 kicks off a week of Spring Cleaning.
The Board of Supervisors, Mayors of DeSoto County, and Keep DeSoto County Beautiful encourage all citizens to take part in the Countywide Cleanup Day on April 17 from 9am-12pm. Groups, communities, Churches, HOAs, families, and individuals are encouraged to adopt an intersection or road. Registered volunteers will receive a Cleanup Kit. The kits can be picked up starting Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16 at the DeSoto County Administration Building located at 365 Losher Street, Hernando. Pulaski County Solid Waste and Recycling Coordinator Danny Masten joined Mid-Mornings with Amy on Tuesday, April 13th, to discuss the upcoming Pulaski County Household Hazardous Waste Day. On Saturday, April 24th, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., individuals and families can bring the below items to the Pulaski County Recycling Center for free disposal. People are asked to bag the items and place the bags in the truck beds or trunks of vehicles, and the staff at the recycling center will take the bags as vehicles drive by with the items. Municipalities in Bruce and Grey counties are closing down many public facilities again as Ontario enters a province-wide “emergency brake” shutdown on Saturday.
Essential services in municipalities will continue to operate. This includes services such as road maintenance, water and wastewater, garbage and recycling collection and police and fire departments.

-The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre will be closed. The Bayshore will remain an active vaccination hub.
-The Harrison Park Campground is scheduled to re-open on May 7, 2021 pending any further provincial COVID related restrictions.
