Article continues below advertisement ↴ Staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital were treated to an Indian lunch courtesy of Kurry LOTW and the Hungry Pug. Chef Jazz Virdi, from Kurry LOTW, says the donation was a group effort between a number of businesses that wanted to show their appreciation for all the hard-working staff at the hospital. So everybody came together, we collected small donations and then we cooked up a storm again, said Chef Virdi. He says their goal was to feed 300 staff members at the hospital but was told that the donation was able to feed most of the staff members at the hospital.

Hospital Completes First Round Of COVID-19 Vaccinations

96 percent of Lake of the Woods District Hospital staff are now vaccinated for COVID-19. President and CEO Ray Racette says he was the last person and he received his shot last Friday. He adds that about 20 people chose not to be vaccinated. “As a hospital, we have a number of conditions for people working,” explains Racette. “One of them is you need to be vaccinated for certain things. COVID is not sitting on that list right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a move to make some of these things mandatory for workers and so on.” Racette says in addition to vaccinating over 500 staff, they also were able to vaccinate several of their patients including ones on dialysis, chemotherapy, and long-term care.
