Skidder destroyed by fire in West Paris

WEST PARIS Fire destroyed a log skidder Monday afternoon on Snow Falls Road. Firefighters responded to the call at 12:45 p.m. and needed roughly an hour to extinguish the flames in the engine compartment of the John Deere 648G. West Paris Fire Chief Troy Billings said firefighters were able to drive to the skidder. The owner’s name and estimated loss were not immediately available. The fire did not threaten any buildings. While the cause is still under investigates, Billings said the fire appeared to be accidental. Snow Falls Road is off High Street. Woodstock Fire Department provide manpower.

House Fire in Upper Woodstock, New Brunswick A fire that ripped through a single-storey house in Upper Woodstock Sunday afternoon has left one man homeless. The Woodstock Fire Department responded to the fire along the Jacksonville Road around 3:30 p.m. Crews quickly brought the blaze under control, but the home was extensively damaged. The River Valley Sun reports the elderly occupant escaped without serious injury. Family members and the Canadian Red Cross are helping the man with lodging and other emergency needs. Two youths rescued after falling through ice in Woodstock

It happened Sunday morning at the Pittock Conservation Area. Lisa Woods, the public information officer for the Woodstock Fire department, says one of the boys was able to get out of the water on his own. He was then pulled to shore by emergency crews. Firefighters had to pull the other boy out of the water. Woods says both boys were then taken to Woodstock General Hospital. The rescue comes one day after a similar incident in Milton. On Saturday, two boys fell through the ice at a storm management pond. One boy was able to pull himself out, and unable to help the other boy, he ran to nearby home to get help. Emergency crews were able to pull the 11-year-old from the water and began life-saving measures. He was pronounced dead in hospital later that afternoon.

(Woodstock Fire Department/Facebook) Emergency services rescued two young boys who fell through ice and into water Sunday at Pittock Conservation Area in Woodstock.  Lisa Woods, the public information coordinator for the Woodstock Fire Department, said passersby noticed the emergency and called 911 shortly after noon.  [The boys] were very scared, no question about it, she said. They were yelling out to the pedestrians that were walking by that they were having trouble breathing and weren t able to move.
