New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Steel plants in the public and private sector supplied 3,131.84 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to various states on April 25, as compared to 2,894 tonnes dispatched on the previous day, said Ministry of Steel on Monday.
The Ministry also said that steel plants are willing to dip into their safety stock to make available more LMO. It also informed about the conversion of nitrogen and argon tankers to carry oxygen. A week earlier, on an average 1500 or 1700 metric tonnes per day was being dispatched. The production on April 25 was 3468.6 MT. Steel plants have been able to enhace the supply of LMO by taking various initiatives, which include reduction in the production of nitrogen and argon and only producing LMO in most plants, an official statement said.

Chennai, April 25 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Sunday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the diversion of 80 MT oxygen supplies from the state to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is unjustifiable and should be reversed.
In a letter to Modi, the text of which was released to the media here, he also said the allotment of 220 MT (metric ton) of oxygen for Tamil Nadu in the latest National Medical Oxygen allotment plan is wrong.

KMML plant reduces price as demand shoots up While other States are struggling to meet the unprecedented demand for medical oxygen, the Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) has been consistently supplying the life-saving gas for the last six months. The public sector undertaking’s recently commissioned oxygen plant with a capacity of 70 tonnes per day produces six to seven tonnes of medical grade oxygen every day to be used in hospitals.
