Apr 17, 2021 AMES Spring is coming and many families are planning their gardens. Preserving your garden’s summer bounty is a great way to enjoy your home-grown produce year round – as long as you don’t serve food borne illness, like botulism, with your home preserved foods, say nutrition and wellness specialists with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. “Home food preservation is not difficult, but it does require following specific directions exactly,” said Holly VanHeel, nutrition and wellness specialist. “Ignoring recommended procedures can result in home canned products that will make you, your family and friends very ill.” To help Iowans safely preserve foods, ISU Extension and Outreach is hosting several virtual Preserve the Taste of Summer courses. Webster County Leadership Development program planned | News, Sports, Jobs

Mar 13, 2021 Registrations are currently being accepted for Webster County Leadership 2021, a program designed to maximize the strengths and skills of current and future community leaders. Webster County Leadership 2021 will include three training sessions focusing on topics that include understanding ourselves and others, communication and listening, and leading effective meetings. The sessions will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on three Thursdays April 8, April 15 and April 22, with April 29 reserved as a make up date in case an earlier session has to be canceled. Sessions will be taught by ISU Extension and Outreach community and economic development program specialists. The program will be presented at Dayton Community Center, Dayton.
