FOUR people were arrested, and two were charged, following climate protests which saw people sitting in roads across Dorset. Roads were blocked in Christchurch, Westbourne, Dorchester, Weymouth and Sherborne on Saturday as campaigners protested the lack of action from government to tackle climate change. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police was made aware of reports of protest activity involving members of the public sitting in the public highway at various locations in Dorset at around 11am on Saturday, May 1. “The locations included Trinity Street in Dorchester, Fountain Way in Christchurch, Jubilee Close in Weymouth and Half Moon Street in Sherborne. At each location just one person was reported to be involved. It is believed this was part of a national protest.

A man was caught driving at nearly 100 miles per hour on the A303. William Connor Gilson, of Salisbury Road, was caught behind the wheel of a Mercedes CLA travelling at 98 miles per hour in January. The 24-year-old admitted to the charge via the single justice procedure at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on Monday, and was fined £323. He must also pay costs of £90, a victim surcharge of £34 and had six points put on his licence.

Patrolling police officers responded to reports of a drunk and abusive male on Westham Bridge on Tuesday afternoon. The man was arrested and charged for breaching his criminal behaviour order due to being intoxicated and subsequently assaulting a police officer. He will appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 21. Weymouth & Portland Police said: Officers in Weymouth responded to reports of a drunk and abusive male on Westham Bridge on Tuesday afternoon. This individual was known to officers and was arrested for breaching his criminal behaviour order due to being intoxicated and subsequently assaulting a police officer.
Vytautas Ausrota This man rugby tackled a woman to the ground and threatened her with a knife with the intent to sexually assault her. A woman aged in her 50s from Surrey, was walking along the South West Coast path just outside Lyme Regis when she heard a man running toward her from behind at approximately 3pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Bournemouth Crown Court heard how Vytautas Ausrota, aged 30 and of Plymouth, approached the victim and rugby tackled her to the ground and knelt on top of her. The victim saw he was holding an orange penknife with the blade out.
