As previously reported, Ashley Hymas, of Dawlish Crescent, Weymouth, entered the now-closed supermarket at Jubilee Retail Park with another man on Thursday, March 12. Carrying multiple bags, the 31-year-old identified items to steal and put in the bags, Weymouth Magistrates’ Court heard in late November. The two men, described as acting suspiciously , were observed on the store’s CCTV and then challenged at the checkouts by a staff member and later the store manager, Stuart Dalley.

Man in court following crash that damaged Weymouth restaurant

A man will appear in court in connection with a crash that damaged Sambo Bar & Grill on Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth Picture: Martin Lea An alleged drink driver has been charged after a car crashed into Sambo Bar and Grill on Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth. The incident on Friday evening at around 10pm caused damage to the building, which had to be evacuated until an engineer s report confirmed it was safe. Emergency services worked at the scene until the early hours of Saturday morning and roads in the area were closed. Luckily no-one was injured. However, traffic lights at the busy junction of Abbotsbury Road and Newstead Road were also out of action, as the crash resulted in damage to an electricity box containing cables.
