Doha: Physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals and academicians working in Qatar completed research training sessions offered by the Division of Continuing Professional Education (CPD) at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) recently.
The latest sessions offered by WCM-Q included a comprehensive five-day Introduction to Qualitative Research course directed by biomedical statistics experts Dr. Ziyad Mahfoud, Associate Professor of Population Health Sciences, and guest expert Dr. Gladys Honein-AbouHaidar, Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
The workshop introduced participants to the design and implementation of qualitative research and offered guidance on when to use qualitative research, which methodology to use, how to conduct the research, how to present results, and how to increase the trustworthiness of qualitative research studies.

April 23, 2021 | Over the past 20 years, the field of genomics has undergone significant progress and transformation. We are at an exciting juncture in this field; however, there is more to be done to ensure more equitable access to technologies and support researchers around the world. The global fight against COVID-19 has highlighted the promise of genome sequencing, but its reach extends well beyond this pandemic. I believe the case for prioritizing global genomic research that can help all populations is clearer than ever before.
QF project to use art therapy to help fight depression, anxiety in kids

Doha: One of the themes the project – led by Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar and funded by Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Qatar National Research Fund – will focus on is national identity.
In collaboration with the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), the project will use the museum’s artifacts to offer children virtual opportunities to explore their history and roots, while also aiming to counteract some of the effects of social distancing and isolation.
While children have remained largely shielded from the physical impacts of COVID-19, they appear to be the ones suffering most in terms of mental health.
