Dec. 11 at 9:43 a.m., guests at Countryside Motel got into an argument about personal property. Police oversaw the exchange of a cell phone and other personal items. Dec. 11 at 6:41 p.m., a man and woman arguing in the parking lot of the Pet Food Warehouse were disgruntled when police arrived. No physical assault had happened, and they didn’t want any help. Dec. 12 at 4:13 a.m., before a 911 call and hang up disconnected, police could hear a woman asking for help. Shelburne Police assisted Vermont State Police in checking on the incident on Route 7 near State Park Road. Vermont State Police talked to the woman. She was OK and did not need help.

A 37-year-old Hartford man has been cited into court next month after authorities say he “misappropriated” at least $10,000 from the Reading Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization, according to a Vermont State Police news release. Wade Mullins, a former treasurer of the PTO, was arrested Monday and cited on an embezzlement charge after a two-month investigation, according to the news release. State Police said an attorney representing the PTO told them on Nov. 6 that “funds were missing from the organization’s checking account.” Police investigated and found that Mullins “had embezzled funds from the account between 2014 and 2020,” and that “there is evidence that at least $10,000 dollars was misappropriated from the account,” the release said.

Like us on Facebook.   WESTMINSTER — A group of Vermont parents is suing the state and three school districts, including Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, over “unequal access to education.” According to the Liberty Justice Center, which is representing four families, including Brianna Schaefer, of Grafton, and Sara and Louis Vitale, of Athens, the state’s educational tuition system “violates the state constitution by allowing children residing in certain school districts to attend the school of their choice and denying the same right to others.” The Liberty Justice Center, according to its website, has a team of lawyers who “fight to protect students, families, entrepreneurs and other Americans whose fundamental constitutional rights have been violated.”
