Unemployment rate falls another tenth to 3.1 percent The Vermont Department of Labor has reported that the seasonally-adjusted statewide unemployment rate for February was 3.1 percent. This reflects a decrease of one-tenth of one percentage point from the prior month’s revised estimate of 3.2 percent. The comparable United States rate in February was 6.2 percent, which was a decrease of one-tenth of one percentage point from the revised January estimate. The decline is largely due to a sharp decrease in the Labor Force from January. The number of unemployed also fell. Both the Labor Force and total Employed represent about 30,000 fewer workers than a year ago, which was pre-pandemic.

The Consolidated gigabit upgrades are part of the company’s five-year plans for the state. This year, Consolidated Communications plans to upgrade 50,000 passings to symmetrical gigabit fiber. Vermont gets $1 6 million from FEMA for COVID-19 response | Vermont Business Magazine

Tue, 03/09/2021 - 1:40pm tim Vermont Business Magazine The Federal Emergency Management Agency has obligated $1.6 million to the Vermont Department of Public Safety to help reimburse eligible expenses the state has incurred as a result of its response to COVID-19. The grant funds, authorized under a major disaster declaration approved by the president on March 29, 2020, for the entire state will help reimburse the state projected eligible costs associated with the purchase of 80 ventilators. This grant is funded through FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Grant program which reimburses communities for actions taken in the immediate response and during recovery from a disaster. Eligible applicants include states, federally recognized tribal governments, U.S. territories, local governments, and certain private non-profit organizations. The grant applications are submitted from the state, which coordinates the process with local governments.
