An accident at the four-way intersection in Altair claimed a life Friday, Mar. 19. A local resident, Victor Galvan Hernandez, 36, became another statistic at approximately 7:59 that morning as he was traveling on his way to work.
Galvan-Hernandez was the driver of a 2000 Saturn passenger vehicle traveling north on SH 71. According to DPS reports, Galvan-Hernandez drove through the four-way stop sign after making a legal stop.
As he proceeded through the intersection, a 2013 Toyota Cruiser, driven by Danny Fyffe, 60, of Westcliffe, CO, along with a passenger identified as Tilda Fyffe, 59, also of Westcliffe, was traveling east on US 90A and disregarded a stop sign.
