Ravaged by costs incurred as a result of COVID-19, Laurie Lavery, owner of the business, needed to cut back more and more services to stay afloat.
Eventually, Lavery, 64, was forced to scrub the floors and bathrooms of the center by herself on weekends after working long 12-hour weekdays, just to make sure the day care center was clean and sanitized for the next week.
Luke Combs is giving back to the small business community. The country superstar has partnered with The Normal Brand to release a custom camouflage-print ball cap featuring an emblem with his logo. Priced at $30, all of the proceeds from the hat will be donated to the Barstool Fund to help small businesses across the country impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus far, the fund has raised nearly $30 million and donated to 178 businesses, including 82-year-old diner Nick s Family Restaurant in Kingsport, Tennessee, Jackbar, a dive bar in Brooklyn and historic Martin s Tavern in Washington, D.C., along with educational institutions such as St. Luke s Day School in Philadelphia and Victor Child Care Center in New York.

Less than 24 hours after learning that her business would benefit from the Barstool Fund, Laurie Lavery told FingerLakes1.com that she was still stunned to have received the call.
That came late-Thursday as Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy called Laurie to tell her that her business, the Victor Child Care Center, would receive help throughout the pandemic.
The Barstool Fund has been raising money and helping small businesses across the U.S., and last month helped a family restaurant in the Rochester-area.
“I am not sure when the application was submitted because my sons did it on my behalf,” Laurie said after. She has a sneaking suspicion that the video, which was published to the Barstool Fund’s Twitter account – was sent out around Monday or Tuesday.
