Weekend crashes claim 8 lives across the High Desert, including 4 in Lucerne Valley

Eight people in the High Desert were killed in crashes over the weekend, including a hit-and-run in Lucerne Valley that killed three girls.
A driver and passenger in the truck reportedly stopped but didn’t call 911 before fleeing from the truck, the Daily Press previously reported.
A California Highway Patrol spokesperson did not give further information about the crash or possible suspects on Tuesday.
A GoFundMe set up to help the families of the girls garnered nearly $15,000 of a $50,000 goal by Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier Saturday morning, a teenager was killed in Lucerne Valley after a crash between a passenger vehicle and a “tractor/trailer combination” shortly before 8 a.m. on State Route 247, north of Lake Street, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

Air Force veteran and former Adelanto Mayor Charley B. Glasper, once said, “When I leave this Earth, please know that heaven is where I’m bound, so don’t cry for me.”
The 84-year-old Glasper, who served three terms on the Adelanto City Council, died Friday evening at Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville after going into cardiac arrest at home, according to his wife, Evelyn Malcom-Glasper, who spoke with the Daily Press.
“He was five days away from celebrating his 85th birthday,” she said. “Charley always told me that he wanted to live to be 100 so Willard Scott from ‘The Today Show’ could announce his birthday on TV.”
