COVID-19: WDG Public Health is prepared for vaccine rollout

Photo: Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health says once it gets its hands on the COVID-19 vaccine, it will go full-steam ahead within 24 hours to administer it. Chief medical officer of health, Dr. Nicola Mercer says public health has been preparing since July to deliver the vaccine and that it’ll be one of the largest projects its ever undertaken. A significant part of the plan was ensuring the infrastructure is in place to safely and securely receive and store the vaccine. Some of that infrastructure being vaccine refrigerators and ultra-low freezers for storage, which Public Health has already secured.

Cargill voluntarily agreed to the closure as 82 workers tested positive for the virus, the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health agency said. As a precaution 129 other people were self-isolating.
