On the afternoon of Friday, March 20, 2020, police received a call from a member of the public who had found a man lying in the service road behind Wigmores North. She stated that the man was struggling to breathe.

Police thank quick-thinking public after Hatfield arrest

Published: 1:10 PM May 19, 2021    A group of men recorded the suspect taking a bike without consent, which led to his arrest. - Credit: Archant Police are thanking quick-thinking members of the public who intervened after spotting a motorbike that was suspected to have been taken without the owner’s consent in Hatfield.  On Wednesday, May 12, a group of men spotted the suspect at the junction of Northdown Road and Travellers Lane. They intervened and the suspect fled, leaving the motorbike behind.   The men recorded the incident on camera and subsequently, police were able to quickly identify and arrest him that same day. 

Car seized following traffic offences in Hatfield

The Vauxhall Corsa was seized in High Dells last week. - Credit: Harry Rutter/Archant A car has been seized and two people have been issued with traffic offence reports for driving without the correct licence and insurance in Hatfield.  On Tuesday, April 20, police received a report of a suspicious grey Vauxhall Corsa driving through the town.   Officers stopped the vehicle in High Dells, and found that the driver – a 28-year-old woman from Hatfield – only held a provisional driving licence. Police checks were carried out on the car and it was established that it was a hire vehicle under a name that did not match the woman.

Three keyless vehicles were stolen between Tuesday, March 2, and Wednesday, March 3 and another vehicle was interfered with. Between 10.45pm on Tuesday, March 2 and 9am on Wednesday, March 3, a grey BMW 640i SE Turbo was stolen from Great North Road – crime reference 41/15462/21. Between 7pm on Tuesday, March 2, and 10am on Wednesday, March 3, a white Mercedes GLC was stolen from Mymms Drive – crime reference 41/15474/21. Between 9.40am and 10.10am on Wednesday, March 3, a blue BMW 535i was stolen from Woodlands – crime reference 41/15475/21.
