SEC names new enforcement chief
Alex Oh was appointed director of enforcement for the Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.
Ms. Oh was most recently a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and co-chair of its anti-corruption and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act practice group.
Before that, she served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York in the criminal division. During that tenure, she was on the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force and the Major Crimes Unit.
SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said in a statement that Ms. Oh brings the right combination of values and experience to vigorously root out wrongdoing in our markets. With her work as a prosecutor, pro bono experience, and time in private practice, she has the expertise as a highly respected lawyer to ensure that the SEC protects investors.
