The European Union will remain united in the face of the global challenge posed by the Russian Federation, and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine and other eastern partners.
Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš ŠefÄoviÄ said this at a press conference following the General Affairs Council on May 11, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“On Russia, I underline the importance to maintain our unity vis-a-vis this strategic challenge. We need to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine and other eastern partners, and to invest in Russian civil society and people-to-people contacts,” he said.

MADRID, May 12 (Xinhua) Spain s Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Maria Reyes Maroto said on Wednesday that she hopes the country will be able to welcome over 45 million foreign tourists in 2021.
The minister made the remarks when speaking at the launch of the marketing campaign You Deserve Spain, aimed at attracting foreign tourists back after the coronavirus pandemic.
Reyes Maroto said the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council will meet on May 20 and discuss recommendations for travelers from outside of the bloc.
The recommendations will allow us to provide certainty to markets outside the European Union when it comes to the restarting of travel especially travel from the UK, which is our largest market, commented Reyes Maroto.

Yesterday 10 May, Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets attended the meeting of European Union foreign affairs ministers in Brussels.
The Foreign Affairs Council covered topics such as a the next steps in the cooperation between the European Union and the United States ahead of the EU-US summit in June, and enhancing the partnership with the Western Balkans in view of the EU enlargement process. The ministers also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, developments with Russia, Belarus, the Iran nuclear deal and the global health situation.
