The United States and a number of EU countries – including France, Belgium and Italy – have been added to Ireland’s mandatory hotel quarantine list. The Cabinet met last night to sign off on adding the 16 additional countries to the list. Speaking to RTÉ in Cork this afternoon, Martin said that the “fundamental rationale” for adding the 16 countries was “a public health one”.

Cabinet to meet over additions to hotel quarantine list

Political Reporter The United States and Canada, as well as a number of EU countries including France, Belgium and Italy, are among sixteen countries that have been added to the mandatory hotel quarantine list following a Cabinet meeting. The incorporeal meeting was due to begin at around 8.30pm. It is understood the meeting was arranged due to increased concern about variants coming in to the country. The full list of countries affected is: Bangladesh, Belgium, France, Italy, Kenya, Luxembourg, Pakistan, Turkey, the USA, Canada, Armenia, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Curaçao, Maldives, Ukraine. The measure will come into affect from 4am on Thursday 15 April.
