A NEW ADVERTISEMENT campaign calling for a referendum on Irish unity organised by the Friends of Sinn Féin will be placed in several major US newspapers today.
Both the New York Times and the Washington Post will carry half-page ads under the title “A United Ireland – Let the people have their say.”
The ad will also appear full-page in the Irish Voice and the Irish Echo.
Members of the US Congress are to receive a briefing today on the latest Brexit developments from Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney and the European Commission vice-president Maroš Šefcovic.

The Cabinet has agreed to extend protections for tenants whose incomes have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Residential Tenancies and Valuation Bill had been due to lapse on 12 April but it has been renewed for three months.
This legislation protects tenants from eviction until July if they have been negatively impacted by Covid-19 and are facing rent arrears.
It also prevents any rent increases for those who find themselves in this predicament provided they make a self-declaration that their incomes have fallen as a result of the pandemic.
However, the blanket ban on all evictions will expire within ten days of the 5 kilometre limit ending.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that there were nine landings of US military flights at Shannon from 1 January to 24 February which involved stopovers.
