In a circular issued by Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, the SC said that the deferment of the implementation of the new procedure as part of the measures to expedite resolution of cases was requested by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr.
Marquez said Locsin requested “a moratorium in the implementation of the guidelines until 01 April 2021 pending the DFA’s formulation of its guidelines and setup for video conferencing hearings.”
Thus, he said that with the approval of Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta “the implementation of the guidelines… with respect to remote appearances from abroad is hereby suspended until 1 April 2021.”
Child car seat law implementation deferred

Daynolo’s remains were finally repatriated yesterday, January 30, 2021, several days after a suspect reportedly admitted killing her on the same day that she went missing at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi where she worked as a receptionist.
After interrogation by the UAE police, the suspect reportedly led the authorities to an area within the vicinity of the hotel where the remains of the OFW was exhumed.
“We’ve heard about this development since last week but it was only yesterday that we were able to confirm it (Last week pa namin nalaman, kahapon lang na-confirm,” one of Daynolo’s close relatives said in a text message.

PRESIDENT Rodrigo R. Duterte should let the Philippine Navy join war games in the South China Sea after China passed a law allowing its coast guard to fire at foreign vessels in the disputed waterway, political analysts said.
“The President should now allow the Philippine Navy to join drills in the South China Sea, especially that Beijing no longer honors diplomatic protests,” Marlon M. Villarin, a political science professor from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), said in a Zoom Meetings interview. “We have to raise the flag in the disputed waters.”
The Chinese law allows its coast guard to “take all necessary measures, including the use of weapons when national sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction are being illegally infringed upon by foreign organizations or individuals at sea.”
