India fully determined to do whatever necessary to overcome COVID challenge: Jaishankar to Wang

The MEA said Jaishankar emphasised that serious challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which had affected all countries, required serious international cooperation.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday emphasised to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the need for China to keep open transport corridors and cargo flights as several Indian entities are commercially procuring various products from suppliers in that country amid the coronavirus pandemic.
NEW DELHI: Asserting that it was necessary to complete the process of disengagement in eastern Ladakh at the earliest , external affairs minister S Jaishankar on Friday conveyed to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the need for full and sincere implementation of an agreement on restoration of peace and tranquility in the region.
The issue figured during a phone conversation that was initiated by Wang to convey China s sympathies to India on the Covid-19 situation.
Also on Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his sincere sympathies in a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the pandemic situation in India and offered to provide support and help to deal with the current surge of Covid-19 cases in the country.

New Delhi: China on Friday assured India that it would do everything to support the latter’s fight against the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic which has taken a heavy toll on the country.
An official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a phone conversation on Friday evening with the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi.
“The call was arranged at the request of the Chinese side to convey their sympathy and solidarity with India at this juncture,” the statement said.
