External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Thursday that a recognition of “mutual respect, mutual sensitivities and mutual interests” was key to repairing India-China relations, after what he called a year of “exceptional stress” in a relationship “profoundly disturbed” by the border crisis.

New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS): In a clear warning to China, India on Thursday said that Chinese hegemony in Asia is unacceptable.
Addressing scholars at the 13th All India Conference of China Studies, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said, The India-China relationship is today truly at a crossroads. Choices that are made will have profound repercussions, not just for the two nations but for the entire world.
The minister said India-China relations were dependent on three mutuals and eight principles. One of the principles, he said was that while both nations are committed to a multi-polar world, there should be a recognition that a multi-polar Asia is one of its essential constituents.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday reflected on the key issues facing the new US administration, with the challenge of terrorism key amongst them and asserted that creating a global consensus on the issue is imperative to dealing with it.
Terrorism has long been treated as a problem of only those directly impacted, he said, while addressing the 14th annual Conference of the Institute for National Security Studies, Israel.

Sri Lanka on Thursday received 5,00,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine gifted by India, the country’s first consignment as the island nation prepares to begin its roll-out.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who received the vaccines from the Indian High Commissioner at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Thursday morning, tweeted: “Received 500,000 #COVID19 vaccines provided by #peopleofindia at #BIA today(28).
