Parents of Leaving Cert students insist decision on exams must be made soon

The results of a newly released survey into attitudes towards the Leaving Certificate exams have found that the overwhelming majority of parents questioned believe a decision on whether the exams will go ahead this year or not must be forthcoming by the end of this month. The iReach survey found that 87 per cent of parents surveyed think the Department of Education needs to decide if the exams will be cancelled and replaced with predicted grades. Seventy-five per cent of those asked think their children should be given the choice of sitting the exam in June or receiving predicted grades, and 82 per cent agree their children s anxiety and stress levels have increased due to the ongoing uncertainty over the exams.
