Flatt died on July 2 when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car in the 1200 block of East Silver Springs Boulevard.
Ocala police said the vehicle s driver, Shelley Sue Diaz of Ocala, was trying to cross Silver Springs Boulevard, at Northeast 12th Terrace, when the car and Flatt s motorcycle collided.
Flatt was thrown from the bike and pronounced deceased on the sidewalk. Officers said he was speeding at the time of the crash. Flatt was 43.
An officer arrested Diaz on a charge of DUI manslaughter after she reportedly failed a field sobriety exercise administered not long after the crash. She spent four days at a local hospital for observation and then was released.

The impact ejected the rider, who landed near the Checkers restaurant. The rider, identified by officers only as a man, was pronounced deceased at the location.
The person behind the wheel of the Hyundai, a woman, was not seriously injured. The car s front windshield was cracked and the side of the vehicle was severely damaged.
Officers said they were notified about the crash at 7:02 p.m. and arrived at 7:06 p.m.

Brandon Epps told the Star-Banner he turned right onto the boulevard from Northeast 16th Avenue. He said as he was driving, the motorcycle rider passed him. Epps said there also was a second motorcycle rider.
