A Florida Senate committee on Tuesday takes up a bill that would create a Purple Alert system to help communities locate certain adults who may be in danger. If somebody goes missing and they have a developmental disability, you can report them missing immediately. There s no wait time that s required and the police can immediately put out whatever alerts they need.
Senator Lori Berman of Delray Beach has now filed the bill for a third year in a row. She says there is already the Amber Alert for children who are abducted and seniors who go missing have Silver Alerts to help find them, but there s nothing in place in Florida for adults with intellectual disabilities.
