An early retirement proposal being suggested to the state Legislature would add up to five years to a teacher’s years of service making them eligible for their pension sooner and reducing costs for municipalities struggling during COVID-19.
The Massachusetts Teachers Association is advocating a plan, which would allow older teachers to retire sooner and reduce their risk for exposure. It would allow communities to hire new teachers at a lower salary.
