A lawyer accused in four lawsuits of keeping nearly $2.6 million from clients’ property sales is under investigation by the Westchester District Attorney’s Office.
Laurieanne DeLitta, who lives in Briarcliff Manor and has a law practice in Armonk, allegedly kept most of the proceeds of the sales while offering a variety of excuses ranging from her bank account getting hacked to her sister stealing the money, according to the lawsuits filed in Westchester County Court over the past six months.
Lawyers for three of the plaintiffs have filed motions for default judgment against DeLitta, as she has neither repaid the money nor responded to their claims. And they ve expressed frustration at the pace of both the criminal probe and the investigation of the complaints against DeLitta filed by the plaintiffs with the Grievance Committee of the Ninth Judicial District.
