An Eversource crew is still working to fix a utility pole after a car crashed into it early Monday afternoon, officials said.
A person driving a white SUV on Maple Road accompanied by another passenger and a dog was distracted when the dog jumped into the driver’s lap, causing the car to swerve and hit a fence followed by the utility pole, officials said. All of the occupants were evaluated on the scene but none were transported to the hospital, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows.

WESTPORT Emergency responders reported to a cut gas line on Hillspoint Road around 9:22 a.m. Monday morning, according to officials.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows said a gas line was cut by construction, causing the leak. There were no injuries nor any houses directly affected by the leak, Meadows said.
