This Is the Best School District in Every State

Between parental politics, after-school programs, and PTA meetings, navigating school districts can be hard and choosing the district that is best for your child is even harder.
Stacker analyzed 2021 data from Niche to calculate the best school district in every state. Niche rankings rely on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education, SAT/ACT scores, college readiness, teacher quality, and graduation rates. Of course, ratings are one thing and experiences another which is why it s always smart to do your research and learn about the families, teachers, and students in a given district before basing something as important as a move on a particular school.
The highest paid superintendent is Sean McKenna of Griswold, with a current annual salary of $190,974.
On the lower end is Kenneth Di Pietro of Plainfield, at $175,000 a year.
“There are many factors in determining the salary of a superintendent,” Robert Rader, the executive director of the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education, said in an email. “Generally, the Board (and the superintendent) will look at comparisons in the regional area, the experience and qualifications of the superintendent, the school district’s size, the district’s ability to pay, and the salary of the superintendent the year before.”
Of those factors, district size seems less significant than the others.
