For many people, it’s just another cute dog show, but for the serious dog lovers, the 145th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is no joke.
And if you love going awwww over your furry friends, here’s what you need to know:
What is the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show?
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the second oldest continuous sporting event in the United States, after the Kentucky Derby. It is also the longest nationally televised live dog show, according to the Westminster Kennel Club.
Who s top dog? Pampered pooches vie for best in show at the Westminster Dog Show finals - held outside of New York City for the first time in 145 years and without spectators
A Pekingese named Wasabi was named the Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show on Sunday and a whippet named Bourbon was named the runner-up
They faced a French bulldog, an old English sheepdog, a Samoyed, a West Highland white terrier and a German short-haired pointer in the 145-year-old competition
Each of these dogs has a history of winning and some were bred from former Best in Show winners and runners-up

TARRYTOWN, June 14 Wasabi, a fuzzy Pekingese with a black and brown face and soulful eyes, won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Sunday in Tarrytown, New York.
A Whippet named Bourbon came in second, winning the Reserve prize at the 145-year-old competition. This year marked the first time the show was not held in Manhattan.
