David is America’s foremost authority on all things canine and the co-host of the National Dog Show (Thanksgiving Day on NBC) since its inception in 2002. A member of the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, he developed and is also co-host of the Beverly Hills Dog Show on NBC, and before that, the longtime (27 years) co-host of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on USA Network.
Over the past decade, the number of prison-based dog training programs designed to benefit both incarcerated individuals and homeless canines has grown considerably. Socialization training and self-esteem building is at the top of the list for both humans and dogs, but working together to develop service, working, and companion animals is just as important. Whether in Greenwich Village or the Hamptons, Isaac Mizrahi, who used to love going out for breakfast, tends to cook at home these days. But he still takes his two dogs out for walks.
“If you have any kind of good-looking dog,” says the designer, who met his husband while walking his late mixed-breed “couture dog” Harry several years ago, “you can’t help but use the dog as a form of display.”
Especially right now, when one-percenters are out and about using them as something between status handbags and social lubricants. “Even if you can’t touch other people, you can touch other people’s dogs, and that’s a comfort,” says animal activist Georgina Bloomberg.

Three veterinarians and an animal welfare group in Canada’s Heartland Province have been honoured by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA).
Patricia Lechten, DVM, is this year’s recipient of the
OVMA Outstanding Veterinarian Award, recognizing a professional who has gone above and beyond in the name of animal medicine. A graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Lechten has been the practice owner of Allandale Veterinary Hospital in Barrie, Ont., for the past 30 years, dedicating her career to improving the health and well-being of companion animals.
