Eskom Corruption Latest: Contractor to appear in UK court
Eskom corruption accused, Michael Lomas, is expected to appear in the Westminster Magistrates Court in London this week.
Former Eskom contractor, Michael Lomas who is now a fugitive in London is expected to appear in the Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Wednesday 20 May.
Investigating Directorate spokesperson, Sindisiwe Seboka said Lomas’s latest court appearance followed his arrest on 15 April and subsequent bail application. Lomas was granted bail of £100000 (R1.7million) and had to further submit additional surety in the sum of £250000 (about R4.3million) as well as agree to other stringent bail conditions.

An Italian businessman who helped to broker the purchase of a valuable London property for the Vatican was arrested in the UK on money laundering charges.
Gianluigi Torzi, 42, was arrested at the request of Italian authorities and denied bail, an official at Westminster Magistrates Court said Wednesday. Torzi is alleged to have conspired to defraud the Vaticanâs diplomatic and political arm in connection with the purchase of the London property in 2018, according to a separate court judgment.

LONDON: Sanjay Bhandari, an accused arms dealer and proclaimed offender wanted in India on money laundering charges, has made an application for part-adjournment in his extradition hearing, a London court said on Thursday.
The application will be taken up at a short hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court in London on May 26 before proceeding to the fuller extradition hearing in the case, scheduled for June 7.
An Italian financier facing probes by Vatican and Roman prosecutors has been arrested in London, British court officials said Wednesday.
Gianluigi Torzi, 42, was apprehended by London police on Tuesday, and appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court following a warrant issued from Italy , a court official told AFP.
Prosecutors in Rome issued that arrest warrant on April 12 for alleged money laundering and fake invoicing.
Torzi is believed to have a residence in London. Full bail arguments were heard. He was remanded in custody until May 18, the court official said, adding that a date for an extradition hearing was expected to be determined then.
