Cuts in programs at Greensburg Salem School District are one of the focal points of a primary campaign where three incumbents and five challengers are battling for four school board seats.
Running are incumbents Lynn Jobe, Jeffrey Metrosky and Lynna Thomas along with Sara Deegan, Desmond Grace, Autumn Jevicky, Emily Miller and Heather Shearer. All have cross-filed and will appear on both Democratic and Republican ballots Tuesday.

Wings Across Westmoreland alights in Youngwood on Saturday, with the unveiling of a new set of wings highlighting the borough’s unique history and culture.
The artwork, part of a countywide art initiative sponsored by Westmoreland Cultural Trust, will be presented to the public at 11 a.m. along the Five Star Trail at Depot Street by representatives of the trust and borough council.

• Diamond Theatre of Ligonier will conduct auditions for the play, “A Hiro’s Tale,” from 7 to 9 p.m. May 7 and 8 at the theater, 210 W. Main St. Performances will be July 23 to 25. Actors of all ages are needed, no experience necessary. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Wednesdays.
• Greensburg Art Center will feature a juried exhibit with works of various artists and mediums May 15 to June 25 at the Rowe Gallery, 230 Todd School Road. A free opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. May 15. Face masks and social distancing required.

Westmoreland County officials say more than 15,400 mail-in ballots have been sent out to voters ahead of the May 18 primary.
Another batch of more than 800 ballots is ready to go out, Elections Bureau Director JoAnn Sebastiani said.
The deadline to apply for mail-in ballots is May 11. They must be received at the courthouse by 8 p.m. May 18 to be counted.
The county’s Elections Board on Wednesday approved the use of one additional drop box at the Westmoreland County Community College location on Mellon Road in Murrysville. That box will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and May 15.
