A Monessen woman was sentenced this week to two to four years in a state prison on an aggravated assault charge in connection with the stabbing of her neighbor.
Prosecutors dismissed attempted homicide and related charges against Tiffany Grogan-Howard, 38, on Wednesday, according to a court order. The stabbing was reported on Nov. 25, 2019, at Highland Manor on 10th Street.
Police said then that Grogan-Howard stabbed a woman at least 10 times. The woman was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of head, neck and arm wounds.

A New Kensington man has been charged with aggravated assault after city police say he chased and hit a woman with a hammer and threatened to kill her last week, according to a criminal complaint.
Ryan Christopher Grabigel, 40, is free on $10,000 bond while awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Jason Buczak in Washington Township. A date for the hearing had not been set as of early Tuesday afternoon.
Grabigel was arrested the day of the incident, which took place at his Edgewood Road home on Dec. 16, police said. He was released from Westmoreland County Prison the following day after posting $10,000 bail.

An Oregon man is accused of breaking into a Greensburg church and dismantling and disconnecting electronic equipment hours before Sunday worship was set to be broadcast live, according to police.
Timothy Lansdale, 55, was arraigned Monday on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and failing to register as a sex offender. The damage forced virtual worship at Otterbein United Methodist Church to be canceled, said Pastor Dawn Check.
Greensburg police were called to the College Avenue church just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers found the sound system dismantled, microphones damaged, an internet router disconnected and electronic equipment used with the organ and keyboard strewn around, according to court papers.

An Arnold man who was shot and killed at a New Kensington housing complex in January died because of a robbery gone bad, according to a criminal complaint.
Authorities said Letresse Tareke Williams, 30, of New Kensington, planned to rob Anthone Williams, 31, in a section of the East Ken Manor housing complex that has been closed since the 1990s.
John W. Clark, a detective with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, said he doesn’t believe the two men are related.
