The leadership of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) and the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) have endorsed the position of Methodist Church Ghana on fasting in Mission schools.
They said the decision of the Wesley Girls Senior High School authorities on fasting was purely in the interest of the students.

A group calling itself Muslim Professionals says Ghana must continue to enjoy togetherness over issues that may trigger religious bigotry and apartheid.
This follows the brouhaha involving Wesley Girls Senior High School for banning Muslim students from taking part in the Ramadan fast.
Although the Ghana Education Service (GES) stepped in to direct the school to rescind its decision, authorities is acting contrary with the claim that fasting for the young girls poses a health threat.
But Muslim Professionals, a non-profit group of Ghanaian professionals of diverse backgrounds have released a statement to share their observations.

The Christian Council of Ghana has expressed disappointment in a comment made by the Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu to the effect that religious tolerance in Ghana is a façade.
General Secretary of the Christian Council, Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose told TV3’s Emmanuel Samani on the Mid Day news on TV3 Monday May 10 that the religious tolerance among Christians and Muslims in Ghana is not a façade but one that has been the envy of many around the world hence, no need to make utterances that have the propensity of jeopardizing this relationship.
The spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheik Aremeyaw Shaibu has expressed concerns over what he describes as gang up against Muslims by big Christian organizations in Ghana.
The National Chief Imam, Sheik (Dr) Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called for immediate consultations of all stakeholders in the religious impasse for quick and amicable resolution for national cohesion.
He caution stakeholders against overreactions that put the long-standing interfaith co-operation and harmony in Ghana into jeopardy.
A statement signed by Shiekh Armiyawo Shaibu, the Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam and copied to the Ghana News Agency, appealed to the Christian Mission schools to treat his grandchildren with love, dignity and empathy for the enhancement of national integration.
It said: “By this we will be able to make of these students the all-time ambassadors and defenders of interfaith love, co-operation and harmony in Ghana”.
