A new sheriff in Hunt County is breathing new life into one of the most mysterious missing person cases in North Texas.

He was last seen on surveillance video leaving a Walmart in Quinlan, a small town in Hunt County.
He was a retired Dallas firefighter, family man and fixer, according to his daughter Suzy Chambers Floyd.
“There was nothing he couldn t fix,” Floyd said.
Since her father’s death, she moved from north Texas to a picturesque property in the Hill country.

Hunt Countyâs law enforcement officials say they are ready to deal with the ramifications of the constitutional carry bill, which was nearing final approval in the Texas Legislature Friday morning.
But proponents of the measure say it still needs to cross the final hurdles.
âI applaud the Senate for finally passing the House s Constitutional Carry bill yesterday, a bill that will further secure our second amendment rights,â said State Representative for District 2 Bryan Slaton. âBut there is still plenty of work to be done to make sure this bill becomes law.â

Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones wants to bring awareness to the citizens of Hunt County regarding recent reports of a phone scam involving scammers identifying themselves as a Hunt County Sheriffâs Office Investigator.
Several citizens have reported receiving phone calls from a scammer identifying himself as an investigator with the Hunt County Sheriffâs Office. Once the scammer is in contact with someone, the scammer tells the person they have a warrant for their arrest, the person is told if they purchase a cash card and then to call back to give the card number over the phone in order to pay the fine and have the warrant dismissed. Unfortunately, in some cases the scammers have been successful in obtaining funds from the victim. Â

A Quinlan man was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with felony theft, after officers from Hunt County and the surrounding area investigated a reported chop shop operating in the south end of the county.
Ronald Chavez, 28, was charged with one count of theft of property of the value of $30,000 or more but less than $150,000 in connection with the bust. Chavez remained in custody Thursday morning in the Hunt County Detention Center. The bond amount on the charge was not immediately announced.
Hunt County Sheriffâs Investigator Kenneth Peters reported multiple stolen vehicles and assorted parts were recovered in the Newell Creek area near Quinlan during the operation which was conducted by Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones, the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force, Paris Police Department and Hunt County Constable Precinct 2 Wade Sheets who assisted with the identification of stolen vehicle parts.

Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones has released a statement ahead of Wednesdayâs fourth anniversary of the disappearance of Michael Chambers.
âThe Hunt County Sheriffâs Office continues to follow up on every lead into his disappearance. The 70-year-old disappeared on March 10, 2017 from his home in the 7000 block of FM 2101. Chambers was seen on surveillance entering, making a purchase and then leaving the Wal-Mart located at 8801 State Highway 34 in Quinlan, TX. Chambers has not been seen or heard from since.
Chambersâ wife reported him missing after returning home from work that evening to an empty house, Mrs. Chambers said she had spoken to her husband around 8 a.m. the day he went missing. Chambers was last seen wearing black pants, a blue t-shirt and a blue baseball cap. Chambers is 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. He has blue eyes and balding gray hair.
