POCATELLO, Idaho (East Idaho News) During a routine checkup in 2008, Zach Parris’s doctor suggested he get a Prostate Specific Antigen test. It’s a blood test that determines whether you have prostate cancer.
Cancer had never been an issue for the 49-year-old Pocatello resident or anyone in his family and he had always been healthy, so he was a little surprised at his doctor’s recommendation. Men 50 and older have an increased chance of getting prostate cancer and his doctor felt getting tested would be a good idea.

LITE-FM s Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union.
A few days ago, we were reading through our newest Christmas Wish nominations when we stumbled across a story that felt really familiar. When we read Tyffani s children s names we knew exactly why! Earlier this spring while we were out on the birthday parade circuit, we got invited to Bella s sixth birthday parade. Her daddy had just been in a motorcycle accident and the only way she d been able to see him was over video chat.
The motorcycle community rallied together for one of the biggest parades we d been part of. Someone also mentioned that Bella happened to be a big fan of Harley Quinn. LITE-FM happens to be very good friends with Harley, so we got her to tag along too.
LA GRANDE â The date was May 24, 2017, and George Venn, an award-winning La Grande writer and poet, had just completed a reading in Cove at an event honoring Brock Evans, one of the nationâs most decorated environmental activists.
Venn did not know it then, but the end of the reading actually was a beginning â the start of a literary journey unlike any he may travel again.
Venn gave his reading at a surprise party celebrating Evansâ 80th birthday. The works Venn chose for the occasion included two poems by Evans from a collection of writings in his basement, âKeepers of the Doorâ and âElgy.â

Recent regulatory actions by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to pay for hospital care outside of traditional inpatient sites were welcomed by some physician groups.
The policy updates will reimburse hospitals to provide in-home, hospital-level telehealth care for patients with acute conditions and will pay for both inpatient and outpatient care in ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) temporarily designated as hospitals.
The actions allow health systems to safely care for these patients in nontraditional locations, away from patients being treated for COVID-19. The new programs will also conserve critical bed space for COVID-19 patients who need immediate treatment.
