SALT LAKE CITY â The Huntsman Cancer Institute is mourning the loss of one of their own after a nurse died from complications due to COVID-19.
The center announced the death of Chiuying Chien on Monday, although she passed away on Dec. 22. She had been with the hospital as an Infusion Oncology Registered Nurse since 2012 and was known as a no-nonsense, dedicate, and compassionate nurse. She held herself to a high standard, was hardworking, and often volunteered for holiday and overtime shifts. Chiuying was beloved and admired by her coworkers and patients. SALT LAKE CITY â Doctors in Utah are urging female residents to follow through on cancer screenings this year, especially mammograms, despite the ongoing pandemic.
The
Huntsman Cancer Institute says many medical appointments were postponed when the pandemic began in spring 2021 as the coronavirus surged across the world.
But now that medical facilities are safe and secure, doctors say there is no longer a reason to put off important tests.
